Ambit is working exclusively with a global medical communications agency looking for an ambitious account director to join their thriving team in Shanghai! This is a unique opportunity to join an industry-leading business in a varied and strategic role.


The role

This independent agency has four established offices in the APAC region, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Auckland. The company encourages a collaborative work culture between all offices, strengthened by a job-title-free working environment.

The agency is seeking an experienced account director who will take overall responsibility for the Shanghai commercial team, providing incisive strategic direction and ensuring smooth project delivery.

You’ll also get the chance to:

  • Be the main point of contact for a variety of clients throughout their projects, from initial briefing to delivery
  • Cultivate client relationships and gain a deep understanding of their objectives and processes to provide them with strategic recommendations based on their needs
  • Explore new business opportunities with new and existing clients, including supporting pitch proposals
  • Commercial team leadership including line management responsibilities


The person

You may be an account director at a medical communications agency looking for a new challenge or a senior account manager ready for that next step. As a strategic thinker with a knack for problem-solving, you’ll have a desire to deliver high-quality work to your clients.

You’ll have prior experience managing multiple medical communications accounts, in addition to:

  • A good educational background, ideally in clinical medicine or biomedical science
  • Excellent communication skills in Mandarin (native) and English (full professional proficiency)
  • A passion for delivering exceptional work, collaboratively with your team, locally and internationally
  • A proven track record in establishing and nurturing client relationships
  • The ability to take ownership of your projects and meet deadlines
